New facial animation technology developed within the SALERO project allows computers animators to save valuable time when animating virtual character faces. In this video, we show a demonstration of facial animation as a function of two variables: "activation", controlling the strength of the expression; and "evaluation" controlling the positive-negative balance of the expression. Together with a third variable controlling the asymmetry of the face, this system allows the creation of a video variety of expressions.
Crucially, the time required to set up this system is a fraction of the time that it would take an computer animator to achieve the same number of expressions using usual methods.
